Calibrating the thermometer:

A thermometer must always be calibrated before first-time use to ensure it is accurate and safe to use in the kitchen. To calibrate this thermometer, fill a glass with ice and water and leave for two to three minutes, stirring occasionally. Insert the probe of the thermometer into the water and wait for 15-30 seconds. Check that the thermometer reads 0°C or 32°F. If it does, the thermometer is accurate and ready to use. If not, it requires calibration. With the probe still in the icy water, press and hold the red RESET button using a pointed instrument and adjust the reading to 0°C or 32°F. The thermometer is now ready for use. For best performance, calibrate the thermometer weekly.
